    Ok that makes sense.

Oh man that’s interesting to hear lol. There is an adhesive scientist(Dr Steven Abbot) that I’m researching and he seems to prefer adhesives for most things. He does answer emails so I’m going to get him to elaborate.

The reason I’m asking this is because yes a car does use a lot of welds but I’ve seen cases where welds breaks on a tool and I’ve seen strong adhesives. And adhesives are also every now but under appreciated.

The way they designed the ABS module on the hybrids for Toyotas is flawed because its pretty much a 3 in 1 piece that can’t be fixed and bought individually. You have to purchase the entire unit with prices ranging from $300 to $1000. That’s almost 1/4 the worth of the car. And without it, the car won’t run at all.

But since the unit I have was malfunction and at the end of its life anyways, I thought I’d take it out and tinker with it or at least experiment with some individual parts that can be bought off of ebay. It seems that the only unit of the 3 that is different is the size of the accumulator.

Ok I was thinking the same thing. Thanks. I’m looking at the strut(Mcpherson) and it has a very slight bend to it from a crash. Such a waste of a good strut lol.

Looking back, he probably wasn’t the right person and my idea just wasn’t feasible in his POV as you said. It was all in an informal and friendly setting but since he was an electrical engineer for very respectable companies, I wanted to run the idea through him anyways. I’m more of a generalist than a specialist which is what he was and I believe that was where the clash was.

I have another question Dave. I’ve mentioned before that I wanted to be a project manager but now I’m doing things other then cars, but still involves the same principles. I wanted to ask you, you being an engineer, how do you pitch ideas to get it passed, without it being dismissed. I have met a fellow engineer from a local coffee shot and shot him some ideas about other engineering subjects but he’s gotten to a point where he won’t listen to new ideas.

I ended up removing the sway bar and didn’t notice much difference in the handling to reinstall the bar at this point.

I did not use a factory shop manual because I don’t have access to it and I do not want to spend money on manual. I mostly went by using youtube videos for reference. My issue was that the axle nut I was using didn’t match the OEMs nut as I found out by looking on the good bearing. Using the correct axle nut fixed all the issues. The bearing is still smooth and my MPG has continue to climb up from 20mpg to 27mpg, although I was getting 32mpgs before I has suspension issues.

I ended up replacing the same bearing 3 times within a month lol. It was really tough stuff. But I have a new appreciation for wheel bearings. Not only that, my other 3 bearings with 200k miles are still holding up which is insane.

I actually found out the a major cause of the problem which was the axle nut. The nut I was using was not OEM and couldn’t tighten down the whole unit altogether. This caused my bearings to fail, rotors rubbing against brake calipers, and suspension noises when turning.

hey Dave I’d thought I quickly ask some related questions here.

I was thinking, why does European cars have so many “successful” or say exotic car brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche Mercedes, but Asia has so few exotic brands. The closest thing Asia has is Lexus. What exactly are these manufacturers doing differently, because I don’t see it.

Secondly, what are your thoughts on brand vs product? Is building the brand more important than improving the product? For example, whenever I see the Porsche or Mercedes badge, I get a good feeling of prestige and quality, although it may not reflect the actual product itself. It feels like a major perception thing. Where would you put your eggs so to speak?

It’s too much work, Dave! My hands can only take so much beating. Also, should I replace the PCV valve?

Thank you for the advice, Dave. I was dead set on changing the valve cover gasket and it being the source of the misfire lol. The reason was because I was reading other sources on the internet and they said the gasket could cause misfire. I checked the shop manual and it said to address other codes first before the misfire codes. I ignored that P0348 code and went for the P0300 misfire codes first. Took out that sensor and what do you know, it has 30ohms resistance.

Had I changed that gasket it would’ve been a nightmare! Although cylinder 5 has a ton of oil inside of it.

I actually have a P0348 code for the camshaft position sensor. Will that turn on the CEL?
